Have you read to a child today?

Mem Fox author of Reading Magic says...
If parents understood the huge educational benefits and intense happiness brought about by reading aloud to their children, and if every parent and every adult caring for a child read aloud a minimum of three stories a day to the children in their lives, we could probably wipe out illiteracy
within one generation.

"To grow up with books is to grow up with knowledge; to grow up reading is to grow up with
power and freedom."
Dr. Perri Klass,
Director of Reach Out and Read

"As parents, the most important thing we can do is read to our children early and often. Reading is the path to success in school and life. When children learn to love books,
they learn to love learning."
Laura Bush, First Lady

Waiting For Winter is a great read-aloud for kids of all ages.  One of my favorite parts of the whole book is the look on bears face when he is woken up by squirrel and hedgehog singing sea shanties in an effort stay awake for the first snow.  Jake laughed for a solid 2 minutes and he is 10!
